Gina Yashere came through the stand up comedy scene in the mid 1990’s. From doing community hall performances she has gone on to conquer comedy audiences across the world including Australia and America. She is one of the Black British talent who had decided to take the plunge and had gone off to seek her fortune in LA. So far, the reports are positive, but we are well aware that her journey continues. Here in the UK, her name on the bill is guaranteed to result in venues being sold out and whenever she returns to these shores she never forgets her roots. As an artist who is determined to make it on her own terms, Gina’s nomination in this category is well deserved.
