Syd Burke was one of the original presenters on LBC with his weekly “Rice and Peas” programme on a Sunday evening. He was also a committed trainer of journalists and presenters and was  involved in a number of community iniatives to bring forward the new generation of broadcasters. He has been credited as being one of the pioneers of Black journalists trying to forge their careers within the broadcasting industry and supported several mentoring initiatives to this extent.
